March 4, 2005 - Friday Evening - "Carlebach" Kabbalat Shabbat with the Conservative Yeshiva

Join students form the Conservative Yeshiva, Schechter Rabbinical Seminary, Seminario Rabinico, Jewish Theological Seminary, Hebrew Union College, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, and Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies for a Kabbalat Shabbat with ruach.

Services will be led by Rabbi Avraham Feder, Emeritus Rabbi of Beit Knesset Moreshet Yisrael, and Guest Hazzan: Hazzan Arye Grayewski.

March 5, 2005 - 8:15 pm - "Sentenced to Marriage: Mekudeshet" (Rescheduled to March 19th)

Beit Knesset Moreshet Yisrael, the Forum of Masorti-Conservative Congregations of Jerusalem, the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism, and Marom invite the public to a screening of the award-winning film "Mekudeshet". The film (Hebrew with English subtitles) paints a devastating portrait of the struggle of three women to obtain a divorce in the rabbinical courts. The film will be followed by a discussion with attorney Susan Weiss, an expert in the field of family law.
Admission: 20 NIS

March 19, 2005 - After Film Symposium: "What Can Be Done?" - Agunot and Mesuravot Get
Rabbi Diana Villa of the Center for Women in Jewish Law at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies will survey the possible solutions for the problems of women who have been refused or are unable to obtain a Jewish divorce.
Tanya Zion, Educational Director of Amutat Mavoi Satum will discuss pre-nuptial agreements and how to avoid the problem of agunot and mesuravot get through educating towards equality, respest and partnership.
This program will be held at Beit Knesset Moreshet Yisrael, in cooperation with the Forum of Masorti Congregations, the Fuchsberg Center, Marom, and Mavoi Satum.

Special Purim lecture by Dr. Shula Lederman of the Department of Art & Jewish Studies at The Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies. This program is held in cooperation with the Moday Evening Forum and is sponsored by the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies.
